Google Apps for Education (GAFE) is a suite of applications that Google offers to schools and educational institutions for FREE. These apps include Gmail, Calendar, Drive, Docs and Sites, and a GAFE account unlocks access to dozens of other collaborative tools supported by Google. All of these applications exist completely online (or in the cloud), meaning that they can be accessed from any device with an Internet connection. As a school that has registered for use of GAFE, every student and staff member has access to utilise a wide range of tools, extensions and apps.
You can find a range of useful apps, extensions and Chrome tricks in the resources below. If you are keen to trial, utilise or understand more about any of these tools, please speak to one of the LH team and we would be extremely happy to:
- work with staff 1:1 to get set up and get started
- work with a class to demonstrate the tool or get students set up
- provide ongoing support to develop aspects of the tool
- be a support in any other way even if it is just to answer questions!
The following Presentations provide a brief intro to the tools:
GAFE Tools (Google search tools, voice typing, Flubaroo, referencing images, Google Sites, Breakout & Kahoot)
GAFE Apps & Extensions (Tone, OneTab, Screen Castify, Todoist, Padlet, DocHub, Canva, Socrative)
